Why We Ride

Nationwide, people are riding to save babies

The March of Dimes has had the generous support of the motorcycle community since 1994 when the first Bikers for Babies® benefit ride took place in Atlanta. With your continued support, we can help more babies be born healthy. Raise money, get on your bike and ride! Know the power of riding to save babies.

Why does this event inspire so many people?

Riders know it's for the babies! They want all babies to get a healthy start. Bikers for Babies® allows riders and motorcycle lovers to promote their support for the March of Dimes mission while educating family and friends about the seriousness of premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality. You can help the March of Dimes find the causes of premature birth and birth defects by registering for the Kansas City Bikers for Babies!

2010 Bikers for Babies® Ambassador, Hattie

When Ryan and Stephanie found out they were expecting their second child, they assumed the pregnancy would go as smoothly as their first. But despite excellent prenatal care, their daughter, Hattie, arrived seven weeks early. She was rushed to the NICU minutes after birth where she received life-saving surfactant therapy – a treatment developed by March of Dimes-funded research that helps preemies breathe. Today, Hattie is a beautiful, healthy 2-1/2-year-old who shows no effects of premature birth. She loves all things girly and idolizes her big brother, Jack. Come meet Hattie and her family at Bikers for Babies® on September 19 at Kansas Speedway.

Stroll the Baby Boulevard at Bikers for Babies®

On September 19, visit "Baby Boulevard" to read about other local babies whose first days were their hardest. Stop by the March of Dimes mission area to learn more about what we are doing to help give all babies a healthy start in life.

What if the hardest day of your life...was the first?
